Edinburgh Castle has the envious title of being the most attacked site in all of the UK with 26 sieges recorded over the last 1,100 years. given there’s been a fortification on this ancient volcanic rock for over 2,000 years it’s likely many more undocumented sieges occurred in its earlier history.
dominating the skyline for me this is the best view of the castle from near the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh.
