Urquhart Castle. Loch Ness. Scotland 🏴
Urquhart Castle can trace its routes back to the 6th Century with St Columba believed to have visited around 570AD during his attempts to convert the Picts to Christianity.
During the 13th and 14th Century the Castle changed hands several times between the Scots and the English in The Scottish Wars of Independence.
When you visit and take in the surrounding landscape you get a better understanding of why this site was so strategically important through history, controlling movement or people and goods through the Great Glen of the Scottish Highlands.
